Research

• Functioned as research Scientist, project leader, Project coordinator and Head of refining Division to undertake research in petroleum refining processes & product development touching both conversion & separation based processes and evaluation of crude oils for fuel products, feed stocks ,lube base stocks and carbon materials. Technical management of admin setup.
• Primarily projects of applied nature as support to operating industry, product yield optimizations, New product feasibilities and plant related problems including changes in crude quality and product specs.
• Basic research leading to new product development, additive response studies and advanced subjects leading to Doctoral thesis.
• Establishment of a business linked R&D centre for BPCL from Concept to commissioning to support three operating refineries with divers’ refinery configurations. Development of facilities, Selection of projects as per corporation goals, recruitment of manpower, & deployment and coordination with the technical services of refineries. Administration of the centre.
• Project development, formulation, execution. Monitoring & evaluation at local levels, through peers & research councils. Project cost estimates, budgeting, raising resources through finding agencies, coordination with external a parties like industry, Ministries , universities and other related organizations. Development of long term business plans.
• R & D studies resulted in nearly publication of 190 papers (62 in foreign journals), others in Indian journals,
  conference & seminar proceedings,180 technical/ scientific reports, 12 patents and two books, one on Lube
  Base stocks and another one on Bio-diesel. Guided 8 Ph.D thesis
• Training of Engineers /Chemists for post graduate diploma and from industry in refining process technologies, petrochemicals, products and their utilization in engines & machine s. Professional short courses for senior executives on advances in refining processes & specific subjects. Over 5000 engineers passed through such programs under my leader ship as faculty & Head Training.

Consulting and Contract Research

Research portfolio mostly comprised of sponsored / contract work from industry, engineering companies, Ministries and petroleum product user organizations. Consultancy with respect to training
of engineers in refining process technologies/operation & product utilization and in the technical evaluation of projects .List of clients include: Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum,
Reliance industry, Simon Carves India, Ministry of Environment, Oman & others.

Recipient of Govt. of France fellowship & UNESCO study, was member of three Govt. of India official delegations on
S&T abroad and a recipient of CSIR Technology award for the year 2000 for process research, Member on
Academic councils of two universities with many other recognitions, Hold proficiency in French language, beside
English and three Indian languages namely: Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.
